A picture is worth a thousand words, indeed. It’s just that this time, if you choose the right combination of words, The Tango Notebook is prepared to award you handsomely!

Read on, curious friends …

What do I do?

Describe the above painting by Mark Fielding in 100 words or less. That’s it!

Some things to help you brainstorm:

  • the mood of the piece
  • what each partner is thinking
  • how their bodies are working together to create harmony (or disharmony)
  • if one of them is wearing too much cologne or perfume
  • what the colors represent to you
  • maybe one is a beginner and the other is advanced
  • if they’re making any mistakes

These are just examples of what to think of. The rest of up to you, so be creative!

How long do I have to do this?

Deadline is Sunday October 11th at 11:59pm.

What do I win?

I thought you’d never ask…

The Tango Notebook will invest in a private lesson with the Tango instructor or school of your choice. We’ll even make the phone call and arrange the whole thing. All you do is show up with a smile and your dancing shoes!

I’m excited! Can I see some sample entries?

Sure, how about this:

The subtlety of his lead puts me at ease and let’s me relinquish all control. That is the only way I can truly feel free. I can’t lead and follow at the same time, so I must let go.

Or this:

The two move as a single unit with four legs and one heart. When they dance, everyone watches in awe and envy. Who are they? They’re known only as inspiration.

Or even this:

Leader:  “She keeps grinding her forehead into mine. Damn it!”

Follower: “His hand is squeezing my back and forcing me to cave in. I feel so uncomfortable.”

Leader: “She’s making me uncomfortable. Why can’t she relax?”

Follower: “I need some breathing room. This just isn’t working.”

Great! I’m ready to get started.
Anything else I should know?

Yeah, three more things:

  1. Only ONE entry per person,
  2. You gotta be a  Facebook fan to play, so join the fun now!
  3. Submit your entry by posting it on our Facebook fanpage wall.

Mosey on back to this blog next Monday to see if you won! I encourage you ALL to participate. We’re talking about a free private lesson, here!

May the best writer win.

Keep dancing (and writing),

I didn’t want to say it, but I knew it would happen :)
Gotcha!

You know as well as I do that you’ll come up with something grand, so don’t second-guess yourself.

Are you asking me or submitting an entry?
The question marks threw me off!
By the way, do you teach Tango in Buenos Aires?

Just led her own front cross and me into an uncontrolled back ocho if I fall and break my head at least she looked good. On the bright side, I can join the ranks of the “can’t walk straight” and I might get to lay my head in her lap.

Afterwards just smile and ask, “How is your chijuaja doing?”
